The Ordinary is launching a haircare line this month

Come on, March 8.

Since its launch in 2016, The Ordinary has become a staple in my own skincare regimens and most of my friends – thanks in large part to the awesome formulas that really do what they say on the box.

Since its launch, the brand has quickly become known for its science-based formulas and no-frills approach to skincare, and women (and men) everywhere have found many new favorites among the collection, with Products like blemish- 2% salicylic acid solution and deeply hydrating 2% hyaluronic acid solution have quickly established themselves as cult products.

And if you’ve been a long-time fan of The Ordinary’s cult skincare products (we are!), this news is sure to get you excited:

As of next week, the brand, known for its highly effective and high-tech products at very affordable prices, is launching its very first products for the hair – and the scalp.

The new hair care line currently consists of only three products – the 4% sulfate wash for body and hair – an awesome hybrid product that will leave both your hair and your body squeaky clean.

Then there is also the 2% Behentrimonium Chloride Conditionerlightweight formula with a gel feel, which will have your hair soft and shiny in no time.

And finally there is the Natural moisturizing factors + HAa serum that promises to moisturizes the scalp with natural moisture to protect the skin barrier and lock in skin’s moisture.

Because that’s where so many other hair care products and lines go wrong – the focus is on the hair, with very little attention on the scalp. The problem? Without a healthy scalp, you will never have beautiful, healthy, bouncy hair.

Let’s talk about sulphates

Many “clean” beauty brands have been busy removing sulfates from products in recent years, claiming that sulfates are bad news for your hair and can end up dehydrating it. Here’s what The Ordinary has to say about their decision to include it in their new hair care line:

“Clean Beauty” called sulfates harsh, saying they are harmful to skin and hair. But sulfates have a softer side.

We take a different approach, following science, not trends. So instead of eliminating sulfates, we have sought them out and reduced them to their essential levels, to provide a product that is:

1. Strong enough to remove buildup and impurities. ?

2. Mild enough to be gentle on scalp and skin. ?

Sulfate 4% Body & Hair Cleanser offers a gentle and essential approach to body and hair.

It contains a milder sulfate called SLES-2 which has been incorporated into the formula to be gentle on skin and cleanse hair without additional bleaching.”
