Sydney Sweeney’s skincare routine is all about hydration

For the past few months, the world has been watching the actors of Euphoria pouring their talent on HBO’s hit series every Sunday night, and to say there were a few gripping moments in the season would be an understatement. The beauty community especially had a blast watching the show unfold as hair, makeup, nails, and even skincare played a part in revealing each character’s undertones. The scene of Cassie Howard (played by Sydney Sweeney), for example, vigorously applying skincare products at 4 a.m. quickly became the background for many TikTok videos. Turns out, this iconic scene was actually inspired by Sweeney’s skincare regimen. “A lot of those products were mine that I brought with me that day,” Sweeney told TZR. “Ice roller is my jam; I actually hooked the whole team.

Before taking on the role of Cassie, Sweeney was already a seasoned actor, having starred in hit shows like The Handmaid’s Tale and Sharp objectsbut his role in Euphoria really cemented her It girl status. And like any good Hollywood starlet, Sweeney maintains a robust beauty routine — one that just landed her a partnership with K-Beauty brand Laneige. On April 1, Sweeney was announced as the first face of the skincare brand in tandem with the relaunch of Laneige’s Water Bank line. (The cult collection has been completely redesigned, from formula to packaging, along with six all-new products.)

Talking to the young actor makes it clear why Sweeney is the perfect person to be Laneige’s first celebrity face. The star’s glowing complexion is instantly noticeable both on and off screen, and she attributes the hydrated, dewy look she now has to a host of Laneige products.

However, her skin wasn’t always so radiant. The actor shared with vogue last year that she has sensitive and oily combination skin and suffered from cystic acne growing up. “It got to the point where I would ask my mom not to send me to school,” Sweeney shares in the video. After years of battling acne and irritable skin, the star has learned some valuable lessons — like, putting toothpaste on your blemishes is a recipe for disaster — and she’s managed to find a line of products that keep her look. skin under control.

Ahead, Sweeney talks to TZR about all things beauty, wellness and beyond: from skincare products she can’t live without, to advice she’d give herself younger . She doesn’t hold back.

What is your current skincare routine?

I have two different routines [morning and evening]. My favorite I have to say is in the morning because I love using eye masks and my ice cream roller – it wakes me up. I wash my face with the Laneige Cream skin cleanser then use the Blue Hyaluronic serum and either take the ice roller or do a jade roller. Then I do Laneige Water Bank moisturizer, and I put on eye patches and use Laneige lip balm – I keep the eye patches on for as long as possible.

When you have the chance to indulge yourself, what do you do?

I get massages whenever I have time, wherever I am.

What are you listening to these days?

I’m really boring and I don’t listen to much music. I only listen to stuff for my characters – so I start adapting someone else’s musical interests. So Cassie listens to a lot of Billie Eilish, she’s really into her feelings; she also likes Lana Del Rey.

One thing you can’t live without is…

Either the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask or the Water Bank Cream Moisturizer.

Where do you dream of traveling?

The Amalfi Coast. I love the Amalfi Coast – I try to go once or twice a year. It is the place where I feel happy and free.

What’s your favorite skincare tool?

An ice cream roller. It was an Amazon find and I just needed something to wake me up because we had a lot of calls at 3am. I was exhausted and felt like I couldn’t get a puffy face — Cassie would get her sh*t together. And so I ordered that and would drive to the set just rolling my face.

What’s your secret weapon to looking good and feeling good?

Laneige Water Bank moisturizer; it always leaves my skin glowing and flawless.

Do you have a favorite workout/wellness practice?

Functioning. Running errands with my dog - he’s a rescue dog [so no specific breed] and her name is Tank.

What is a healthy meal that you always prepare or order?

So in LA we have Jon & Vinny’s – it’s an Italian place. This is delicious. My favorite order is the pesto pasta and the chicken.

What is the little anti-stress luxury that you swear by at home?

Spend time with my family.

What is your favorite makeup look?

I like a bronzed blush, a simple mascara, a sunny look.

What is the thing that has helped your acne the most?

Really, growing up has helped. I was trying all types of products and overdoing it on my face. Then my hormones balanced out and I found the right products. I don’t wear makeup when I’m not working, to let my skin breathe. If I find myself getting a pimple (usually it’s hormonal and it’s just a big eye sore that’s about to surface), I use my Epiduo topical cream. I’m going to use ice to try to keep the bump neutralized and red light therapy.

What’s the one thing you want to go back and say to your younger self?

Stop always listening to what other people say.
