Excerpts:

Of all the iconic looks you’ve sported in your movies, which one do you love the most and would you love to recreate?

Since ‘Poo’ from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham is one of my most iconic characters, I would love to recreate my look.

We love how you wear oversized silhouettes with big tees and baggy jeans. Is this your date in the summer?

Absolutely! Summers are synonymous with baggy jeans and oversized silhouettes. All you need is to be comfortable in your own skin and wear it with confidence. Stay hydrated and drink 2 to 3 liters of water throughout the day.

You barely wear makeup when you’re not on camera. Would you say you like bare skin more than makeup most of the time?

I always wear sunscreen every time I go out and prefer not to wear makeup. Sunscreen is really important and useful to help protect the skin from sun damage. Besides, the beauty ritual I swear to is an oil massage for my face. It removes all impurities and deeply cleanses my skin.

What are the best and worst skincare tips you’ve received in your career?

The worst skincare advice I’ve ever received is don’t wear sunscreen unless you’re going out in the sun. I think Solar cream should never be ignored in the skincare routine. Love yourself and accept yourself, you will always shine on the inside, which will automatically reflect on the outside. My dietitian always tells me to drink plenty of water – a rule of thumb for glowing skin.

Speaking of hair care, have you too been given a family hair secret like most Indian women?

Oiling my hair and scalp twice a week is essential for nourishment. I use St. Botanica Moroccan Argan Hair Oil at night, followed by shampoo and conditioner the next morning. Recently I started using St. Botanica Moroccan Argan Hair Mask like 2 times a week and it works wonders on my hair.

What’s your favorite solution for bad hair days?

Shooting days take a long time, which affects the health of my hair. I make sure to wear a serum to add some quick shine to my bad hair.

What does your hair care routine look like during the summers?

No matter where I am, I make sure to oil my hair every week and use shampoo and conditioner. I love nature-inspired beauty products for my hair care.

Did you also go through a wild hair phase as a teenager when you wanted to dye your hair pink or blue?

As a teenager, I always played it safe with my hair and never colored it or had it treated. Only after entering Bollywood that I had my hair colored for the first time.

Many mothers experience hair loss after giving birth. Have you also experienced this?

Yes! I have experienced it. Oiling my hair overnight has definitely helped me overcome many hair issues. It’s something my family has advised me to do for years. Oil massages and masks are necessary for a healthy scalp.

What would be your one hair care tip for new mothers?

The nutrition we eat is reflected in our physical health and our skin and hair. It is crucial to eat a vitamin-rich diet that includes all fruits and vegetables and healthy fats like ghee. Experiment in the kitchen by adding naturally colored foods to your diet, as they will give you a range of essential nutrients. Don’t forget to oil and condition your hair and use the right shampoo.
