This is where several beauty gurus came up with a cheap and supposedly effective solution – petroleum jelly.
According to these clips, all you have to do is apply a little of the famous Vaseline to the areas, which you will then spray with a little perfume.
But while this tip is meant to make perfume last longer, one perfume expert took it to TikTok to share her thoughts.
And it’s safe to say she’s not the hack’s biggest fan.

With nearly 165,000 followers, Josephine (@jusdesore) has become a go-to for many other beauty fans – the prodigy regularly shares a list of new fragrances to take and those to avoid.
And this time, she’s taken the internet by storm, after explaining why using petroleum jelly to make her perfume last doesn’t work.
“Vaseline is not good,” she said.
”Because it’s made of petroleum jelly which smells of oil and gas.”
Instead, the prodigy recommended other alternatives, such as applying unscented body lotion to clean, dry skin.
“You can also use a scented body lotion if you’re comfortable with layering or you can apply the scent as you’ll wear it,” Josephine added.

“Once the lotion is dry, apply your perfume,” she said, liberally spritzing Kilian’s Moonlight in Heaven.
”There you go, your scent will last all day.”
However, the clip left the internet divided, as some believed Vaseline lacked a distinct scent.
”I do not know [I don’t know] what you get, but the Vaseline I have doesn’t smell like that,’ one reviewer commented.

Another added: “I live [love] your content but Vaseline doesn’t smell like petroleum [sic]. This is the wrong association. No gasoline.”
Someone else shared another solution and laughed, “Just buy Arabic perfume and it will stay for days. [laughing emoji].”
