Glossier just brought back its solid perfume
Sound the horn, grab your purses: everyone’s favorite millennial pink brand, Glossier, has just announced the return of its solid fragrance Glossier You. And it’s better than ever.
Brighter scents have quite a history, as fans know. There was Glossier You in 2018, the brand’s first foray into fragrance. After the success of the eau de parfum designed to smell differently on everyone, Glossier launches its solid version without water. Teal OGs will recall that the solid version was housed in a pebble-like pink case; perfect for on-the-go application. The product quickly went viral and again, unsurprisingly, sold out.
Then the worst happened: Glossier discontinued the product in 2019, alongside its Glossier Play line. Fans rallied to demand his return, and now the wait is over.
On January 12, Glossier announced on Instagram that it would be re-launching its solid fragrance, with the caption: “See you soon, Solid #YouSmellGood”, adding that the product, priced at £24, will launch on January 18.
Many are probably wondering why Glossier discontinued the product in the first place. In a comment responding to a fan, Glossier wrote, “Our original Glossier You was not designed to be refillable…”
And the new iteration of You got a facelift, wrapped in a refreshed pink enamel coating. The most exciting: it is now rechargeable! This means you can keep the container and buy refillable, recyclable trays for £14 which easily magnetically fit back into the case.
While the solid features the same scene as the perfume – spicy notes of pink peppercorn, ambrox, orris root and musk – the solid’s perfume is slightly sweeter, more “intimate” and made with a base anhydrous alcohol-free wax that melts into your skin. Like its predecessor, it was also designed to smell the same as when you apply it, without change as it dries.
As we all look to the future to give our shelves a spring cleaning, the return of Glossier You couldn’t come at a better time. Plus, there are five more exciting launches to look forward to this week as well.
