Best Tom Ford perfume for men and women 2022: From black orchid to bitter peace

Tom Ford fragrances have become a signature for well-made chic designer fragrances. Since releasing his hit hit, Black Orchid, to top of the charts such as Red Jasmine, Gray Vetiver, and Neroli Portofino, it’s clear that this suave Texan really loves everything scent and his line, in especially the collection of private mixes, really channels this obsession.

Celebrating a time when perfumes “were” perfumes, these are scents you wear to accentuate the glamor (echoing her makeup collection launched in 2011). With powerful bouquets using rare ingredients, these incredibly glamorous (and unisex) concoctions range from fun and alluring scents to darker, decadent sophisticated scents favorite of Hollywood starlets of yesteryear.

His private collection of mixes includes sturdy square bottles inspired by chess pieces and sometimes provocative names (“prick of the rose”, “fabulous f — ing”) echoing the designer’s penchant for pushing boundaries.

Depending on your particular scent peccadille, we challenge you not to find something that suits you among Mr. Ford’s offerings. These don’t come cheap, but if you happen to have one of these scents on your bathroom shelf, you can pretty much guarantee that it will wear out and not pick up dust. …

We also visited the Tom Ford store on the sixth floor of Harrods, where we were guided through the collection of the lightest and freshest fragrances to the darkest and richest numbers to see which ones really stood out from the crowd. .

Tom Ford bitter peach, 50ml

Better: Globally

Evaluation: 10/10

As someone who normally hates “fruity” scents, our tester was nevertheless struck for six by this beautiful bouquet. Launched just before the second lockdown, it didn’t get as much of a fanfare as it deserved. But with its fuzzy peach notes more crisp than vivid, combined with a daring blood orange accord, this bouquet is a stroke of genius that has rightly earned it an underground following. We also have a soft spot for the peach colored bottle which will look great on any dressing table.

Tom Ford lost cherry, 50ml

Better: For gourmets

Evaluation: 9/10

Few perfume brands can make “sweet” scents well without looking cheesy or making the wearer feel like they’ve been covered in jam. This is not the case with this charming little newcomer, who combines sweet notes of marzipan with all the nostalgic charm of an ice cherry, to compose the glamorous “I Love Lucy” style. Great for those with a sweet tooth but don’t want a sugar crash afterwards.

Tom Ford rose bite, 50ml

Better: For a classic rose revisited

Evaluation: 9/10

This scent upsets the traditional rose scent, inspired by Ford’s private rose garden (some agree), it features no less than three roses: Rose De Mai, Turkish and Bulgarian rose, which gives it serious power. floral. It also contains a spicy kick of pepper to lift the pretty rose notes of the flower beds and give them a thorny and sassy side. The name may raise eyebrows, but we kind of like it (but maybe don’t give it to your grandma on her birthday).

Tom Ford Sandalwood Blush, 50ml

Better: To wear with chic lingerie

Evaluation 8/10

Considered one of Tom Ford’s classics, this one launched alongside his makeup collection and we can well imagine spraying ourselves with its sultry aroma as we prepare to step out. Our tester loved how rich and unusual it was, with a sultry background of sandalwood (one of the most alluring ingredients in a perfumer’s toolbox), which beautifies the skin like muslin. of silk, infused with a blend of woods, flowers and spices.

Tom Ford black orchid, 100ml

Better: Decadent and rich fragrance

Evaluation: 7/10

This one is classic yet polarizing, the very first fragrance launched by Tom Ford that celebrated the designer’s love for patchouli – a rich, earthy note prized for its de-stressing and aphrodisiac qualities. This punchy patchouli is paired with a unique accord of black truffle which gives it its characteristic richness (which may be a bit too much for some tastes), as well as tangy notes of bergamot to add a little extra sparkle.

Tom Ford white sun water, 100 ml

Better: Light and fresh scent

Evaluation: 8/10

It smells good on a beautiful summer day, with sparkling notes of bergamot, orange and pink pepper, on a delicious background of pistachio and orange blossom which give it strength and hold. It dries to a warm base of cardamom and sweet tonka bean, perfect for vaporizing if you’re going on a beach vacation, or whenever you want to channel the essence of summer all year round.

Tom Ford oud wood, 50ml

Better: Starting scent

Evaluation: 9/10

They say he’s Ford’s number one seller, and for good reason. Perfect for seasoned oud wearers as well as for newcomers, the woody and smoky character of the oud is here enhanced by a bewitching cocktail of amber, spices and rosewood, for a particularly warm and enveloping fragrance. Plus, being an oud, it has a good hold, ideal for those who are drawn to deeper, darker scents.

Tuscan Leather Tom Ford, 50ml

Better: Seductive and masculine scent

Evaluation: 8/10

Created to evoke the “first animal” side of leather, this night-flowering jasmine is its secret weapon (an extremely sensual note in perfumery) underlined by rich smoky notes of incense. Like wearing one of Ford’s iconic leather blazers, it adds the perfect stylish touch for anyone with a sartorial spirit, while its warm, leathery character is guaranteed to crank up the heat a notch or two.

The verdict: Tom Ford fragrances

While Tom Ford is probably best known for his black orchid scent, we absolutely love bitter peach and predict that it will be a future classic in the making. Cheerful and portable, yet totally unique, that’s just the right thing to cheer up when the current gloomy events, combined with the weather outside, are too much to bear. While some might find Tom Ford scents a bit too strong, it’s delicate enough to appeal to most palates, with enough influence to stay on the skin for a good part of the day.
